A great day to read Instructions for a #Heatwave by Maggie O’Farrell
I have spent the day wallowing in irony.
The snow was just deep enough for me to declare a personal Sabbath: no fitness training and, if possible, not leaving the house.
After leisurely start and a half-hearted tidy-up, I got out “Instructions for a Heatwave” and sat and read the whole thing, cover to cover, under a cover, ignoring the snow.
It’s a day we’ll remember. The freak snow of 2013. Events planned weeks ago now cancelled or postponed – or to always be remembered with an unexpected backdrop of white.
I did venture out at one point. I helped the girls with their snowman. I gave him some sun glasses and a sun hat and couldn’t be bothered to dig out the sun cream to wedge in his side.
March: in like a lamb; out like a lion wandering far from the reserve.
Narnia-Extreme: Always winter; never Easter.
Great book. I’ll write the review on a sunnier day, I hope.
