Wee Scoops

Measure for Measure

Check Up

My mouth is an armoury.
White weapons: incisive and wise.
Strength and strategy
Behind my sneer, or my smile.

Head back and jaw dropped
I am defenceless.
Dazzled, and gulping dry air.
A sterile tray, an arsenal
Of thin steels, sharp instruments.

My mouth of weaponry is
Vulnerable as marshmallow:
Pink and white in the light –
A ruched palate, bound
By nervous studs.

My bite is off;
My complaint filed.

Today, I’m spared
Spitting silver
Through pink.

  1. You captured the absolute vulnerability of every person in the dreaded dentist chair. You poor dear. I do not like dentists
