Wee Scoops

Measure for Measure

How can you tell the difference between normal life and an occasion?

Are you familiar with the term “occasional chair” – when we used to wonder whether it was a chair… only some of the time. But no, it’s just a chair that doesn’t match the others.  It stands out: it’s a bit special. Maybe it rocks. Maybe it has a fancy pattern.

But in life, how do you mark an occasion? Perhaps is a date in the diary beforehand. Perhaps involves sparkling wine. Perhaps “It will be a day long remembered”…

Sometimes life seems to go so fast that the occasions cram up and fill all the days and you wake up thinking “Today is the day!… again!”

As the old song goes… “Let us rejoice and be glad in it.”

  1. Seeing that life is ever fleeting perhaps we need as many occasions as the warranted? I like occasions because they more than likely fun and involve good food.
