Measure for Measure

The Magic of the Monarchy: Youth Meets History – and, call me fickle, I loved it!

The Royal Family certainly know how to put on a wedding. Disney disne dae it quite like that! What a wedding!

Everything was so vibrant – and real. What sounded like a movie soundtrack was real music being sweated out by a real orchestra. What looked like computer generated architecture was a real venue. And no Disney princess could compete with the beauty of Kate and her fabulous dress and the reality of the fanfares and the crowds and the Prince. Apathetic as I was, I couldn’t help but be impressed.

The consonant in the “an” in “an historic” always annoys me – but this was one of these: an historic occasion. All the uniforms, horses, carriages, robes, marching bands – everything on display to mark history taking place – live and interactive. The sense of the past was never absent – but a great celebration of the present, marking this step to the future.

I hope they (we) leave them alone. We have got the historic images now.

I hope the wedding planner gets a raise. Good job.

  1. Thought it was a great day. Good to be British and all that.
