Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone
Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone
Silence the piano and with muffled drum
Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

Not that anyone likes funerals, I suppose – when someone dies and you find yourself thinking, “Should I go to the funeral?” – my advice would to be to definitely go.
It may well be possible to regret going – but that has to be easier to live with than regretting not going.
