Measure for Measure

Postaday 2011: Better Sorry than Safe

Stop all the clocks, cut off the telephone

Prevent the dog from barking with a juicy bone

Silence the piano and with muffled drum

Bring out the coffin, let the mourners come.

W.H. Auden

Full text of poem here.

Not that anyone likes funerals, I suppose – when someone dies and you find yourself thinking, “Should I go to the funeral?” – my advice would to be to definitely go.

It may well be possible to regret going – but that has to be easier to live with than regretting not going.

“Rejoice with those who rejoice; mourn with those who mourn.”

Romans ch 12 vs 15
